On a high after Day 1 of IJL 2014
31 Aug, 2014
I am writing this at the end of a wonderful first day at the International Jewellery London trade fair in Olympia, London. Thank you to all my visitors at Stand P100 for sharing my love of jewellery and for the fabulous comments you made on how stunning the stand looked with our bespoke jewellery stands replicating the tree in our logo, the moss and of course the Woodlands Collection which was very well received.
When I arrived, I was nervous, excited and scared in equal measures. Working with my assistant Helen, who was a tower of strength to me today, we put the final touches to my display and once the crowds arrived I found I was enjoying myself.
I met buyers from gift shops and jewellers, silversmiths, students as well as other designers and jewellery makers. Thank you for sharing such an interest in my designs. I also dipped my toe into the UK export market by having discussions Irene Kerrison from the UK Trade and Investment who was very helpful discussing promoting my very British product overseas. I'll keep you posted on my globetrotting expeditions as part of the Great Campaign, when I become open to export.
It is getting late but I would like to say thank you to Lindsey Straugton, Emma Rankin and Chloe at the British Jewellers Association for all their help and advice and now I have become a member of the BJA, I look forward to working closely with you.
I hope to see anyone who is visiting the IJL tomorrow and Tuesday at Stand No P100 for another interesting day in the new life of Kara Jewellery.
